                              Paul Molke Places Sixth at OAC Junior High State Tournament

                              3/12/12 - This past weekend Paul Molke represented Revere Middle School at the Middle School State Wrestling Tournament.   Each middle school weightclass initially had 48 wrestlers that had qualified from all over the state of Ohio.   At the close of the 2-day tournament, Paul had finished in 6th Place in the 132 lb. weightclass.  Paul Molke is the very first middle school wrestler from Revere to place at middle school states !!!

                              2/25/12 - Congratulations to Stephen Suglio (182 lbs) for winning the Division II District Wrestling Tournament at Alliance High School. Suglio narrowly edged out the 4th, 12th, and 19th ranked wrestlers in the state on his way to the title. With the championship he has earned the right to participate in the Division II Ohio State Wrestling Tournament held at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  Good luck Stephen!!!

                              Congratulations Paul Molke, 2012 Junior High Ohio State Qualifier

                              Congratulations to Paul Molke for finishing second in this past Sunday's OAC Junior High State District Tournament at Brecksville HS.  This has earned Paul the right to compete in the 132 pound weight class at this year's Ohio Junior High State Tournament at Youngstown State's Covelli Center on March 10th and 11th.  Good luck Paul!!!
                               

                              Revere Sends Five to Division II Districts at Alliance HS

                              2/18/12 - Over the weekend, the Minutemen wrestlers competed in the Division II Sectional Tournament at Walsh High School. Congratulations to Dominic Scianna (106 lbs), Matt Peterson (132 lbs), Ahmad Khatib (160 lbs), Stephen Suglio (182 lbs), and Jake Totten (220 lbs) for qualifying for next week's district tournament at Alliance HS. Both Dom and Stephen finished second place, while Jake, Matt, and Ahmad placed third. Also congratulations to Eric Roose (145 lbs), Alec Fetzer (170 lbs), and Carl Roman (285 lbs) for finishing fifth to become district alternates at their weight classes.  Revere finished fifth in the overall team score with a total of 128 points earned.  Nice job wrestlers and good luck at districts! 

                              Seven Minutemen Place at Suburban League Tournament

                              2/13/12 - This Saturday Revere HS hosted the Suburban League Wrestling Tournament.  The event was a huge success with seven Minutemen wrestlers placing in the top four of their weight classes. Stephen Suglio (182 lbs) finished second, Kyle Flynn (120 lbs), Eric Roose (145 lbs), Ahmad Khatib (160 lbs) all finished third, and Matt Peterson (132 lbs), Justin Smith (138 lbs) and Alec Fetzer (170 lbs) all placed fourth.  Revere was fifth overall in the final team standings.  Nice job wrestlers.  This Friday and Saturday the Minutemen will travel to Walsh HS for their division two sectional tournament.  The top four place finishers from each weight will move on to the district tournament next week at Alliance HS.  Good luck wrestlers!

                              Revere Drops Two to Lake and Field

                              Over the weekend the Revere wrestlers lost two hard fought battles to Lake and Field.  However, Matt Peterson, Eric Roose, Alec Fetzer and Stephen Suglio all went undefeated on the day.  Nice job guys!  Next the team will host the Suburban League Tournament this Saturday, start time is 10 AM with the finals round beginning at 5 PM.  Come out to support the team and our senior wrestlers.

                              Revere tops North Olmsted, Loses to Sixth Ranked Edison

                              1/28/12 - On Saturday the Revere wrestling team took on North Olmsted in a dual meet that ended in a thrilling 34-32 Minutemen victory.  Key pins came from Alec Fetzer, Stephen Suglio, and Jake Totten, while Justin Smith's 14-13 come-from-behind victory proved to be the difference in the final team score.  The Minutemen did not fair so well in their second dual meet, losing 15-57 to the sixth ranked team in the state from Milan Edison.  Notable victories included Carl Roman's first period pin and Matt Peterson's 7-0 decision.  Also congratulations to JV wrestler Dustin Shaffer on his first-ever successful attempt at "The Flying Squirrel" in route to a pin against his opponent from Padua.

                              Minutemen win final Suburban League Dual

                              1/26/12 - Last night the wrestling Minutemen traveled to Tallmadge for their final Suburban League dual of the season.  Revere came out victorious with a final score of 44-30.  Winning by pin for the Minutemen were Jake Totten, Stephen Suglio, Kyle Flynn, and Matt Peterson. Alec Fetzer recorded a technical fall, while Justin Smith earned a hard fought decision.  Nice job wrestlers!  Tomorrow the Minutemen will host a non-league dual meet at noon against the Eagles from North Olmsted.  Be there and be loud!

                              Peterson Finishes Seventh at Dies Memorial Tournament

                              1/21/12 - Congratulations to Senior Matt Peterson (132 lbs) for a strong showing at the Bill Dies Memorial Wrestling Tournament at Firestone High School.  In a field of nearly 40 area teams, Peterson earned a seventh place finish, going 4-2 on the weekend with three decisions and a medical default in his finals match.  This improves his overall season record to 22-8, nice job Matt!  Overall, the Revere Minutemen finished 28th in the team score with a total of 42 points earned. 

                              Revere Defeats Cloverleaf, Loses to Highland

                              1/19/12 - Last night the Revere varsity wrestling team split a pair of Suburban League duals, falling 18-53 to the host Hornets of Highland, but winning an incredible 64-6 match against the Cloverleaf Colts.  The Minutemen started off with six straight pins against their Cloverleaf opponenets and never looked back.  Seniors Eric Roose (145 lbs) and Justin Smith (138 lbs) both went undefeated on the evening, Roose with two pins and Smith with one pin and a close 6-2 win against Highland.  The most notable performance of the night came from Alec Fetzer (170 lbs), who came from behind in the last minute of the match to edge out his Highland opponent 5-2.  The Minutemen will travel to Firestone HS today and tomorrow to compete in a field of 38 teams in the always tough Bill Dees Memorial Tournament.  Good luck wrestlers!


                              Minutemen Battle Injuries, Lose Pair of Matches at West Geauga

                              1/13/12 - The Minutemen lost two duals this past Friday, 18-51 against Elyria and 31-35 against the host Wolverines from West Geauga.  With three key starters out of the starting line up due to injuries, Revere found it hard to dig themselves out of a 0-18 hole at the start of each match.  Despite the adversity,the Minutemen wrestled tough and managed to actually beat West Geauga in head-to-head match ups.  Each team won 4 four matches, however Revere was able to earn two more bonus points than the Wolverines. Going undefeated on the night were both Eric Roose and Stephen Suglio.  Suglio's two victories have improved his overall record to 23-1 on the season.


                              Revere hosts Suburban League Match-Up, Lose Thriller to Nordonia

                              1/5/12 - The boys varsity wrestling team hosted a Suburban League competition against both Nordonia and Wadsworth.  In the first round, the Minutemen were barely edged out by the Knights of Nordonia, losing a thrilling match by a score of 31-33.  Out of twelve individual matches, the Minutemen won six, however bonus team points from the Nordonia victories lead to the overall Revere loss.  Notable individual performances came from Matt Peterson (132 lbs) with an exciting 7-6 overtime victory, as well as Alec Fetzer (170 lbs) with a pin 53 seconds into the second period.  The Minutemen did not fair as well in the second round against the Grizzlies from Wadsworth, losing by a score of 6-68.  The lone victor for the Minutemen was Stephen Suglio at 182 pounds, who earned a 2:36 pin.  The team would like to thank all who came out to support them last night.  They will travel tomorrow morning to Hudson High School for a quad meet against the host Explorers, Shaker Heights, and a rematch against Nordonia.

                              Revere beats Wooster and Hoban, extends record to 4-4

                              The RHS wrestling team came up with two non-league wins this Saturday, 12/29, against Wooster and Hoban to improve their overall dual meet record to 4-4 on the year.  The host Minutemen began the day with an exciting 42-38 victory over Hoban, following it up with another big 48-22 win over the Generals of Wooster.  Scoring bonus points for the Minutemen were Kyle Flynn (120 lbs), Zeck Lehman (152 lbs), and Ahmad Khatib (160 lbs), each recording two pins on the day.  Stephen Sulgio (182 lbs), Matt Peterson (132 lbs), and Justin Smith (138 lbs) each contributed with a combined three pins and three forfeits on the day.  The Minutemen will host a tough Suburban League matchup this Thursday against Wadsworth and Nordonia, start time is at 6 PM.  Be there and be loud!

                              RHS Goes 2-2, Takes Fourth at Canfield Holiday Duals - 12/17/11

                              The Minutemen bounced back from their first two Suburban League dual losses by going 2-2 at the Canfield Holiday Duals.  Revere opened the day with a strong 43-29 win over Rootstown and then a 46-27 win over Tallmadge.  However, the Minutemen lost tough battles to host Canfield, 31-42, and Manchester, 30-44.  The trio of seniors, Matt Peterson (132 lbs), Justin Smith (138 lbs) and Eric Roose (145 lbs) all went undefeated on the day.  Justin Smith contributed to the team score with a perfect four pins on the day!  The Minutemen will enjoy a break from competition over the holiday week before hosting a double dual with Wooster, Hoban, and Smithville on 12/29.


                              RHS Loses Twice in Suburban League Opener - 12/15/11

                              The RHS wrestling team opened up Suburban League competition last night at Green HS, losing two hard fought matches to the host Bulldogs, 27-41, and to the Copley Indians, 21-49.  Junior Stephen Suglio (182 lbs) earned one forfeit and a come from behind pin in the third period against his Copley opponent to extend his overall record to a perfect 12-0. Freshman Zeck Lehman (152 lbs) also looked strong, earning two decisions on the night to improve his record to 9-3 on the year.  The Minutemen take the mat again this Saturday at the always tough Canfield Holiday Duals, start time is 10 AM.                               Minutemen Runner-Up for Second Straight Week - 12/10/11

                              The RHS Varsity Wrestling Team turned in another strong performance this weekend at the Mike Lewis Medina Buckeye Invitational Tournament. For the second straight week, the Minutemen earned runner-up honors with their 258 team points to champion Brunswick High School's 275 points.  Leading the way were juniors Kyle Flynn (120 lbs) and Stephen Suglio (182), both who were champions of their respective weight classes.  Flynn earned a 10-0 major decision in the finals to improve his overall record to 9-1 on the season, while Suglio's 5:37 pin in the championship match kept him unbeaten on the season at 10-0.  The Minutemen also had four individual second placers in Senior Matt Peterson (132 lbs), Sophomore Ahmad Khatib (160 lbs), and Freshman John Tibbs (113 lbs) and Zeck Lehman (152 lbs).  Both Senior Eric Roose (145 lbs) and Junior Dominic Scianna (106 lbs) also turned in solid third place performances.  Great job team!  The Minutemen will open up Suburban League competition this Thursday at Green HS against the host Bulldogs and the Copley Indians.  Good luck wrestlers!  


                              RHS Varsity Takes Second at Bison Kickoff Classic - 12/3/11

                              The RHS Varsity Wrestling Team started off the 2011-2012 season with a strong runner-up performance at the Bison Kickoff Classic at Beachwood High School on Saturday.  The Minutemen held the top spot of the team leader board the entire tournament until the final round, finishing with 336 total team points to the Garfield Heights Bulldog's 338 points.  Revere had two individual champions on the day in Dominic Scianna (106 lbs) and Stephen Suglio (182 lbs). Scianna gained a takedown early on in the championship match and never looked back, edging his Fairview HS opponent by a score of 2-1.  After an exciting overtime win in his semi-final match, Suglio earned another hard fought 5-4 victory in the finals.  The individual tournament championship is the first for both wrestlers in their high school careers.  Other strong performances were turned in by Kyle Flynn (120 lbs), Matt Peterson (132 lbs), Justin Smith (138 lbs), and Carl Roman (285 lbs), who all finished second place in their respective weight classes.  Additionally, Eric Roose (145 lbs) placed third.  Great job wrestlers!
